Motherhood
for me right now
is pillow fights on freshly made beds
and toothless grins
Long days that reach into night
and early mornings
with hot coffee clutched tight
Emotions,
running high and spilling all over,
Poop jokes
and hard questions with missing answers
Cowboy hats
and tutued dancers
Prayers
caught in my throat
and tears
gathered in the corner of my eyes
Loss,
deep and wide,
seeping into every moment
Gain,
tight hugs,
messy lettered love notes,
and the joy of calling them daughters
and son.
